Abu Dhabi Airport Mini Guide

Abu Dhabi International Airport (code AUH) is an active international airport and is the second largest in the United Arab Emirates.  It has three terminals and is predominantly served by Etihad Airways.  The airport is found just 26 kilometres outside of the city of Abu Dhabi, making it the perfect place to rent a car to begin your journey into the city or exploring further afield. 

If you are travelling to the airport from Abu Dhabi or between the airport terminals then hop on to one of the public transport green and white A1 buses that operate every 40 minutes, 24 hours a day.  The fare is extremely cheap but bear in mind the journey into the city centre can take at least 45 minutes due to multiple stops and traffic.
There is an inter-terminal complimentary shuttle service that operates every 15 minutes.  Buses can be found outside Terminal 1 at Entrance 5, or at Terminal 2 Departures.



Taxis operate 24/7 and are located curbside outside the Arrivals halls for Terminals 1, 2 and 3.  If you fancy arriving in style black 6-seater Mercedes Vitos are available at Terminals 1 and 3, and Toyota Camrys are the preferred choice at Terminal 2.  All taxis are metred but you will pay a slightly higher cost per kilometre for the luxury options.  

Alternatively, renting a car from Abu Dhabi International Airport is more economical and hassle-free.  There is an extensive range of vehicles available from the most economical to the most luxurious.  And as you would expect from this city of wealth, only the best service and delivery is accepted.

We have negotiated great deals with globally recognised car rental agents.  All are open 24hrs a day and are located in Sky Park Plaza which is accessed by a short walk from both Terminals 1 & 3.  If you are arriving at Terminal 2 then you will need to grab the shuttle bus (every 20 minutes) from outside the Arrivals hall of Terminal 2 and this will take you to the Sky Park Plaza to collect your vehicle.

All three Terminals offer an abundance of dining venues to cater for every palate.  You can shop till you drop in the Duty-Free shops or if you prefer to spend your time chilling, you can order your shopping online and collect upon arrival.  

If you are transiting through AUH you can check-in to the Aerotel hotel located after Passport Control in Terminal 1 if you have time to spare and need to rest or freshen up.  In addition to Etihad's two amazing lounges for First Class and Business Class travellers, there are a further three airport lounges for other airline passengers travelling in the same classes.  A children's play area, a smoking lounge and a spa can all be found after Passport Control.
